THEMED POND DESIGNS. A GREAT FORM OF SELF EXPRESSION.

Theme ponds. Theme ponds? Yes, theme ponds!

Have A Question For Mike? Ask the Expert

How about a pond design based on a theme? The overriding theme for about 99% of the pond I build for people are “natural”; when the time comes to discuss design concepts pretty much everyone always says I want it to look really “natural”. But how about thinking outside of the box of natural looking ponds; what about planning a fun looking pond, or a pond that really reflects who you are or what you find pretty.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Have A Question For Mike? Ask the Expert

Its 2013, the New Year is actually upon us and already rolling along! As we all “de-holidify” and return to our normal routines; many of us think it’s a good time to make changes and resolutions. I like the chance for a resolution because it seems that there is always something in my life that needs to change, or needs improvement. I welcome the chance to get better in every part of life. For me that always means that in the New Year I look how I can do things differently with my pond since that is a huge part of my life. There’s a million things that I want to do and change with my pond and right now is the time for me to think about those and plan to make the changes in 2013 that I can.  Of course I have to consider what I can afford to do, what I need to do, and what I want to do.

water garden ponds

A great way to get inspiration for blog topics is simply to take a look at my pond. There is always something going on that I can find interesting enough to get some words down. Sometimes, however; I need to look further than my own backyard pond. As my “Pond Princess” says, sometimes I need to “Think Outside The Pond”. That leads me to look at the lifestyle of water features and pond keeping as a whole. What is going on out there in the world, who is doing cool stuff, who is creating unique works, what are the pros doing, what are the do-it-yourselfers doing? Luckily there is a whole world of possibilities out there so for this blog I am stepping up to the globe and giving it a spin.

golden orfe pond fish New Jersey

The Golden Orfe, or Ide, is a somewhat overlooked choice as a fish to stock your pond and water garden with these days; yet the Orfe is an easy to find and affordable pond and water garden fish. Most pond fish dealers stock the Golden Orfe because they know about its hardiness, interesting behavior, and easy upkeep when it comes to our backyard pond installations.

LET’S MAKE A DEAL. BARTERING FOR PONDS!

As a small business owner there is not too much better than when at the completion of a project my customer is satisfied with the results, and makes that final payment to complete the transaction we both entered into. I’m happy, my customer is happy, we both made a good trade. Goods and services in exchange for monetary compensation is happening everyday all around us; it is the norm of today’s business transactions. A recent pond installation project got me thinking about these everyday transactions a little deeper.

water garden pond builders

For a long time now I’ve been a fan of checking out different koi ponds, water gardens, waterfalls, and just about any other type of water shape. I love seeing the many different interpretations of how a pond is built, decorated, filtered, stocked, and managed. I consider myself pretty fortunate to have a job that allows me to do that on pretty much an everyday basis.
